From: "Matthew E. Harvey" The 'x' below denotes an accent. All the other notes on the intro are palm muted. The rhythm is probably totally incorrect. I think he actually plays the chords 8 times in a bar instead of seven, but I can't be bothered to change it now (I don't have a tab program, and can't get one 'cos I have an archimedes). Play the intro once again with the words below :- I am one of those Melodramatic fools Neurotic to the bone no doubt about it. The next bit is just palm muted chords on the same pattern as above (can't be bothered to write it out again). A5 B5 Sometimes I give myself the E5 creeps. A5 B5 Sometimes my mind plays tricks on E5 me. It A5 B5 all keeps adding up. I E D C#5 Think I'm cracking up. Now am A B I just paranoid, or am I just stoned. The next bit is just E(7th fret) B C#m B E(7th fret) B C#m The next bit is just a variant on the chords for the intro. Theres a standard strumming pattern, which isn't that difficult to work out. The chords are below :- E(7th fret A) B(bar on 7th fret E) C#m(bar on ninth fret E) G#m(bar on fourth fret E) A(fifth fret E) E(7th fret A) B(7th fret E) That should be adequate, apart from the ending. It's all in Emajor and good to muck about on the chords with. I know the ending, and if anyone is desperate for it then just tell me and I'll EMail it to you. -- Matt Harvey EMail : harvey@harve.demon.co.uk ... It is better to be brief than boring. -- Matt Harvey EMail : harvey@harve.demon.co.uk ... Don't blame me! I just test the thing! From: "Matthew E. Harvey" Subject: TAB: Basket Case - Green Day Date: Sat, 03 Jun 1995 12:58:04 GMT I had a few queries on the C#5 chord in the orginal tab. C#5 is just a power chord at the fourth fret A string. Here it is tabbed out. C#5 e-|-----| B-|-----| G-|--6--| D-|--6--| A-|--4--| E-|-----| In addition here is the ending as promised. e-|-----------------------------|-------------------------| B-|-----------------------------|-------------------------| G-|-----------------------------|------x-x-9-9-x-4--4-4-4-| D-|-6--6-7--7-7-7-6--6-7--7-7-7-|-7--7-x-x-9-9-x-4--4-4-4-| A-|-7--7-7--7-7-7---------------|-7--7-x-x-7-7-x-2--2-2-2-| E-|---------------9--9-9--9-9-9-|-5--5--------------------| 'stoned....................' (fades away gradually) Play that pattern 4 times (not necessarily exactly the same) and then play these chords. E5 in this case is the first three notes of Em. A5 E5 B5 Those are the chords that finish the song. Any flames or stuff, mail 'em to the address below, but I've played it like that ever since Dookie came out, so it's not likely to be wrong. -- Matt Harvey EMail : harvey@harve.demon.co.uk
